IP101 Web and Brand Refresh
Building a global education platform for intellectual property advocacy
2022
IPProgress needed a clear, accessible way to educate a global audience on the importance of intellectual property protections. IP101 became that foundation: a digital platform designed to break down dense IP concepts, establish credibility, and support future advocacy efforts as policy conversations evolved around the world. The challenge was twofold. Intellectual property policy is abstract and highly technical, and the audience spanned multiple regions, cultures, and levels of familiarity with the subject. The existing brand assets were strong but needed to work harder in a digital, education-first context. The refresh needed to feel modern and authoritative without losing consistency, while the site itself had to guide users through complex information without overwhelming them. I led the brand refresh and owned the web experience from concept through development handoff. That included defining the user journey, developing wireframes, designing the UI, and coordinating closely with development through QA. While the core brand elements remained intact, I reimagined how type and color were used to create clearer hierarchy and improve readability. A new illustration style and supporting design system added warmth and clarity, helping abstract ideas feel more approachable and structured. The resulting platform gave IPProgress a flexible, scalable foundation for ongoing education and advocacy. IP101 supports both evergreen learning and timely policy engagement, with a design system that extends naturally into social content as new initiatives arise. The refreshed brand and site increased engagement and traffic, and positioned IP101 as a credible, easy-to-navigate resource for audiences seeking to better understand intellectual property protections.
